RID Travel Grants

Alaska NASA EPSCoR Program invites applications for travel funding to develop collaborations with NASA that will lead to future funding. These can be through a Technical Interchange Meetings or other collaborative work meetings. International travel is not allowed

Award Amount: $2500
Application Window: Open/Rolling (first-come, first-served basis)
Submission Deadline: Minimum of one month (30 days) prior to the start of the requested travel

Application

Applications must be emailed as a single PDF (1-2 pages) to uaf-spacegrant@alaska.edu using the email subject line: AK NASA EPSCoR Travel Request

  1. Cover Page – Travel Summary
    • Applicant Name:
    • Email Address and Phone Number
    • Travel Summary: Travel location, dates
    • Total Funding Requested; (up to $2500)
  2. Proposal Narrative
    • Travel Purpose: Describe the purpose of the proposed travel, what NASA Research/Engineer will you be meeting with, what presentations will be given, what research will be discussed.
    • NASA Relevance and ASGP Alignment: Briefly explain how your research aligns with NASA’s strategic goals and what proposal opportunity this travel will facilitate.
    • Statement of Professional Benefit: Explain your specific role in the travel (e.g. oral paper presentation, pre-arranged meetings, etc.). Detail how this travel will advance your research goals.
  3. Itemized Travel Budget: provide a detailed breakdown table listing all anticipated costs.
  4. Include a 2 page bio.

Post-Travel Report Instructions

Award recipients are required to submit a Final Travel Report within 30 days of returning from travel. Completing this requirement is mandatory for the final travel reimbursement and future funding eligibility.

The report (1-2 pages) should be submitted as a PDF to uaf-spacegrant@alaska.edu using the email subject line: AK NASA EPSCoR Travel Request Final Report, and contain:

  1. Header Information:
    • Awardee name,
    • Location and date of travel
    • Presentation/project title
  2. Summary of Activities and Accomplishments
    • Describe your activities at the event (presentation given, work accomplished)
    • Highlight key results
  3. Impact Statement
    • Summarize how this travel impacted your research
    • Outline any immediate next steps (e.g. proposal submission, follow-up research)
  4. Photos
    • Provide at least 1-2 high-resolution photos of you at the conference/meeting (e.g. presenting at your poster, working with your project)
    • Include descriptive photo captions and grant permission to AK NASA EPSCoR to use images for newsletters, NASA reports, and website showcases.
  5. Final Expense Summary
    • A final table providing the actual expenses incurred.
